Quick Tour

Welcome to a tour of Grace Lutheran Church. While the tour will give you a good idea about our facilities, the real thing is much better. Come visit and see the real thing. And find Jesus Christ, too!

The thumbnails below lead to big and detailed pictures. Click on the ones you like, but the tour goes from top to bottom. You'll return here when you click the return button on the bigger pictures.

You see this view of Grace from the west parking lot, next  to Barlow Park. You decide not to park here, so you just circle in this lot, and pull onto Hazel Avenue off to your left.

As you turn right off Hazel Drive into the east parking lot, you see the main entrance to Grace Church.

Perhaps you drive a loop through the parking lot, and see Grace's Nursery School and Education Building.

As you pull around in the lot, you again see the main church entrance.

You've parked now, and are about to go up the steps into the church narthex. Looks inviting!

Inside the narthex, you are at the center of a lot of Grace activity. On the left is the table which, on Sunday mornings, has coffee and goodies. Right in front you see the guest register and prayer request book on the stand. As a first time visitor, you sign the guest register. Beyond, you see the kiosk with many postings. And beyond it, you see the doors to the nave, or auditorium. And a hallway to the left.

On the right, you see the elevator that goes down to the Fellowship Hall. Also to the right, you find the stairs to the balcony. You decide to get an overview of the nave first, so you head for the balcony.
The lights are all on, and you look down on the main part of the nave. You look over the top of the organ console.
Now you go back to the main floor, pull open the doors and walk into the nave, and are somehow drawn to the altar.
You notice  the red flowers. Or whatever color for this particular day.
The red paraments, close up. Again, this could be several other colors.

You return to the narthex. On the right, you see again the hallway you noted earlier.

In the hallway, leading to the education building, you see many things which get your passing attention. A board of snapshots of Grace people. The Cradle Roll. The church library.
You come into the Education Building in the preschool area, where some children are busy at various activities. Very colorful, a happy place.
You watch a few of the kids for a couple minutes, before continuing your tour.
You wander in the main hallway of the Education Building, with the nursery school on your left. On your right are several classrooms/meeting rooms.
You enter into the easternmost room, the "Grace Gathering Room", and enjoy the sun and the easy chairs. If it's Sunday morning when you visit, you join the Adult Bible Class. (Lately, the ABC has been meeting in the Fellowship Hall.)
You've returned now to the narthex, see the elevator, but decide to take the stairs down to the Fellowship Hall. On your left, you see another bulletin board, and a table covered with tracts. On the right, you see the Grace gift shop, perhaps covered with an plastic dust cover.
As you come into the Fellowship Hall, you see tables and chairs, ready to be arranged for the next big event. You see a kind of stage at the far end, and walk up to take a look.
Looking back, you see the kitchen. Time to see what's there
Ah, yes. A typical church kitchen. Lots of cabinets, stoves, sinks. It looks empty now, but you know it will be too small with a dozen people during a congregation pot luck supper. Many hands making light work.
With this, you decide you've seen enough of the physical stuff of Grace Lutheran Church, so you head up the stairs and again into the narthex. You walk out the main doors. Outside on this nice October day,  you take a quick walk around the buildings and see a couple more things of interest.
The original cornerstone of the original church. You think this church must have built in stages, since the cornerstone isn't on a corner. Later, as you come to worship with the people of Grace, you find it's true. The original 1956 building was enlarged, then the education building was added, then the narthex and hallway were added. The latest building projects included the addition of the elevator and remodeling of the fellowship hall.
Part of your walk-around shows you the Main Street side of the church building, where you see the two crosses: the brick one and the red standing one. One evening, you drive by and note the three crosses, the daylight two and the shadow of the red one. It reminds you of the three crosses on the hill of Golgotha, where Christ Jesus was crucified with two thieves. But this bare red cross also tells you that He is no longer on the cross. He died and now lives with His father in heaven. And you think back to the bare cross above the altar inside Grace Church. Tears come to your eyes as you know that the cross of Christ is bare - for you!
