The Worship Service

Return to 'What to expect...'

You can learn about our worship at other pages of this website. But here's some general information to make your first visit more comfortable.

The atmosphere is relaxed. You don't have to worry about "making a mistake"  -- no one will be judging how you act. And we 'old timers' make plenty of mistakes, too. You will probably see a couple.

Come as you are. There's no dress code. You'll see men and women wearing jeans or shorts (depending on the weather!), business suits, and everything in between. Your choice!

Children of all ages are welcome in our services. We like kids in our worship. But there's usually nursery care available; ask an usher.

The worship folder (sometimes called the 'bulletin') that you were handed will tell you what's going on today and other info. Depending on the Sunday, we may follow the green hymnbook in the racks in each pew (that is, row of seats) or we may use the worship folder exclusively. Or perhaps some combination. But follow the flow...Stand when others stand, sit when others sit. You get the idea. Easy. Inconspicuous, too. If you have trouble standing, don't worry about it; we have a number of regular worships who remain seated for the entire worship service.

Sit anywhere you feel comfortable. No reserved seating! The usher will help you, if you wish.

You can be anonymous. During worship, you will not be identified as a visitor, not be asked to stand up or raise your hand. But we'd like you to sign the guest book in the narthex, or complete one of the yellow cards the usher may have handed you. The elder assisting the Pastor will probably remind you to do this.

An offering of thanksgiving to God is a part of our worship service. Please, don't feel obligated to give any money. Many church members give monthly, so not putting anything in the offering plate is 'normal practice' here. You won't stand out.

Our worship includes the Lord's Supper (Communion or Eucharist) several services a month. All baptized Christians are welcome to participate, but we ask you to look at the back of the yellow card. If you agree with what is there, then please participate. But if you prefer not to participate, don't worry. Just remain in your seat -- no one will think it odd, since some members choose not to participate every time Communion is offered. If you'd like to talk to the pastor before communing, please call him at 748-0840. We encourage this, for your benefit and ours.

This is a brief overview on our worship. Please ask an usher or anyone else with questions. Or you can contact the church before you come the first time. Click here to send an email to the Church Office. Someone will get back to you.
